Using collage to create postcards, I communicate with other artists; sometimes the visuals reveal something about their story and sometimes I pull back the curtain for a peak at mine. The visuals are highly interpretive and the message intended solely for the recipient. I use visuals only, without words beyond the address and a note to those carrying the mail from my post office to their door. “This art is intended to reach it’s recipient, but please enjoy it while in your care. If you do find that you are drawn to it and it is too difficult to let it go, then keep it.”
Artists that inspired me when I first started honing my idea of visual communication via mail; a piece of art that would be touched and viewed by many outside the traditional space of gallery or museum were Lenore Tawney and John Berger.
